Malaysian Football News: Ong Kim Swee appointed as head of youth development in FAM

The former Malaysia U-23 head coach Ong Kim Swee is announced to take charge of youth development programs of FAM or Football Association of Malaysia. Ong Kim’s agreement as the U-23 national squad manager has come to an end after the decision of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Philippines and FA Malaysia that has not to extend his contract. However, it is being announced that the 49-year-old will take manage as the Head of Youth Development at FA Malaysia. Secretary General Stuart Ramalingam stated in the New Straits Times:

“We are in the midst of finalizing the details. He will focus on youth development. Kim Swee will be working directly with the Technical Director Peter de Roo.”

Football Association of Malaysia offers other role for Ong Kim Swee

Malaysia - Ong Kim Swee, the former national under-22 head coach will have an offer from FAM or Football Association of Malaysia, the most possible position is the director of youth football. The FAM are interested to have an agreement with Kim Swee, who was serving the Malaysian country as coach in national body for more than 10 years and counting, the director of the youth football duty and talks between both sides have been interesting. In his foregoing arrangement with FAM, Ong Kim performed his duties both as the coach in Under-22 and as the youth football director. Stuart Ramalingam, FAM secretary-general stated yesterday:

Petaling Jaya in Malaysia – The most awaited news for the Malaysia football super league because they can feature for both AFC Cup or Asian Football Confederation and ACL or Asian Football Confederation Champions League tournaments of the 2021 season. The 2020 Super League champions will be eligible right to the ACL group table, while the Super League runners-up and 2020 FA Cup victors will join the group table of the AFC Cup tournament, and the second tier football team championship of Asia.
